Oxygen
If you have ever experienced difficulty breathing, or if you have a lung or heart problem, you have probably wondered about using oxygen at home.
Your physician has determined, based on your symptoms, physical examination and laboratory test, that you may benefit from the use of oxygen at home.
How do I use home oxygen?
A small, adjustable plastic tube (called a nasal cannula), worn much as you would wear eye glasses, is placed under the nose. This tubing, through which the oxygen will flow, is attached to the oxygen tank.
CPAP & BiPAP
Our quality of life blossoms when we are well. Sleep is essential for human beings to live life in prime state of health. Optimal sleep is vital to ensure recovery and rejuvenation. At Guardian Home Care Services, we believe everyone should enjoy a good night’s sleep! For those suffering from sleep apnea, we provide innovative CPAP solutions.
How do I use CPAP or BiPAP?
CPAP works by applying a small amount of pressure to the airway through a mask that fits over the nose (called nasal mask)or/and mouth (called full face mask). The mask is connected via tubing to the CPAP machine that is set according to your doctor’s prescription to provide enough pressure to the airway to keep it open during sleep and prevent the apneas.
BiPAP is another very similar type of treatment. BiPAP works the same as CPAP only it uses two different pressures, one pressure while the person inhales and a lower pressure while the person exhales. Many patients find the lower pressure during exhalation more comfortable and easier to breathe with as the cycles match your normal breathing.
Nebulizers
A nebulizer changes medication from a liquid to a mist so that it can be more easily inhaled into the lungs. This is very common for the treatment of respiratory conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and COPD. Nebulized therapy is often called a “breathing treatment.” Nebulizers can be used easily at home and plug into an electrical outlet.
Pulse Oximeter
A pulse oximeter is a non-invasive medical device that measures the oxygen saturation of your blood. This is especially useful when dealing with medical conditions such as asthma, COPD, congestive heart failure, and chronic lung diseases.
Infant Apnea Monitors
Your child may need an apnea monitor if your child has infant sleep apnea. This is a condition when your baby stops breathing for 15 to 20 seconds or more while asleep. Also, if babies with apnea of prematurity were born early their lungs have not finished growing and can not work as well as they should. Apnea monitors will help monitor the number and length of apneas. Lastly, babies who have a tracheostomy or abnormally shaped airways have an increased risk of obstructed airway.
Tracheostomy Supplies
Tracheostomy supplies are needed to provide an airway for breathing, to provide a connection to a ventilator, to remove secretions from the lungs, or to prevent secretions from entering the lungs. Guardian Home Care Services accommodates all patients’ specific sizes and styles for trach supplies.
Suction Machine
A suction machine is used to physically remove secretions from the mouth and throat. This will allow you to breath, eat, and talk more comfortably. Suction machines are available in stationery and portable models.
